Emerson Ceiling Fans Recalled

Comments Off

Approximately 4,000 60-inch ceiling fans are being recalled by Emerson Electric Co. because the blades can potentially fall off. The brackets that hold the fan blades can break and cause the blades to detach. Falling pieces can hit and injure innocent bystanders.

Emerson Electric Co. has received one report of a blade striking a consumer in the head. Additionally, the company is aware of six incidents of the brackets failing. Three of the six incidents resulted in minor property damage.

The recall involves Emerson Designer 60-inch Ceiling Fans. The recalled fans have 60-inch diameter and they come in seven different types of finish including pewter, white, brushed steel and more. Below are the model numbers of the fans included in the recall and they can be found on the base of the fan.

The fans were sold by Menards and other lighting showrooms, electrical distributors and hardware stores nationwide from May 2005 through September 2006 for between $90 and $300.

Consumers should stop using these fans immediately and contact Air Comfort Products to receive a voucher for a free Emerson replacement fan of comparable value. Air Comfort will reimburse consumers up to $75 for charges incurred in the removal and installation of replacement fans from Air Comfort.

Consumer Contact: For more information, consumers should contact Air Comfort toll-free at (866) 478-8564 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit their Web site at www.emersonfans.com.
